The Launch of Re:Gen Limited Re:Gen Limited is a newly established company to market the Re:Gen product. The company has flown from the Harmonic "innovation nest" and is led by CEO Bridgit Hawkins. The business is based in Harmonic's Wellington Office. History and Development of Re:Gen Re:Gen was developed by Harmonic; an ICT (Information Communication Technology) research and development company. Harmonic runs Farmgate a Research and Development programme that engages with the rural sector to identify challenges that can be solved through ICT innovation. Farmgate is about improving the efficiencies, productivity and marketing of New Zealand’s primary sector products through novel uses of ICT. From this work, Harmonic developed Re:Gen an effluent monitoring and management system to assist dairy farmers manage effluent and benefit the environment. The Launch of Farmgate Harmonic launched Farmgate in 2003. Since its inception the research programme has explored the potential of ICT to support animal traceability and environmental monitoring. In 2006, Harmonic’s Programme Manager Bridgit Hawkins conceived a novel concept for effluent management on dairy farms stemming from the environmental monitoring work. A proof of concept was developed with the assistance of a Sustainable Farming Fund grant, and seed funding from Telecom operating on Massey University’s No.4 Dairy Unit. The system, called Re:Gen, was developed in conjunction with Massey University scientists and proved to have a range of benefits for the farm including the scheduling of effluent irrigation and quantifying the changes required to the farm’s effluent system. In December 2008 Harmonic was successful in securing a Technology for Business Growth grant from Foundation for Research Science and Technology to commercialise the proof of concept. DairyNZ On Farm Innovation Fund invested in a national trial of Re:Gen, conducted in 2009. Current Status:
Re:Gen has been trialled on eight farms across New Zealand representing a range of soil types and effluent systems, and is now available for sale This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 0800 3 REGEN
